Privacy Policy
This site is owned and operated by Houser Media LLC, Austin Houser's company. Where this policy says "I" or "me", it means Houser Media LLC and Austin acting on its behalf. The site is a landing page with a newsletter sign-up, a contact form, a short feedback form for people who have heard me speak, and a calendar for booking a call. This policy explains what those collect, why, and what happens to it. I keep it short on purpose. The Terms & Conditions cover the emails and text messages you sign up for.
What information I collect
- Newsletter. Your email address, and the date you signed up.
- Contact form. Your name, email address, the message you write, and your company if you choose to give it.
- Feedback form. Your name, email address, your company if you give it, your feedback, the event name if the link you followed included one, and whether you ticked the box allowing me to quote you.
- Booking a call. If you book a call through the calendar, your name, email address, mobile number, the time you chose, and anything you add in the booking notes.
- Technical data. Each form submission records your IP address for a few minutes to limit repeat submissions, and runs a Cloudflare Turnstile check to tell people from bots. I don't run analytics or advertising trackers on this site.
How I use your information
- To send the newsletter you asked for. You can unsubscribe from any issue, or by asking through the contact form.
- To reply to your message or feedback. Contact messages and feedback submissions are emailed to me and also saved to your record in my customer relationship management (CRM) system, feedback together with your quote permission, so I can find them later.
- To hold the call you booked: to confirm it, remind you about it, and reach you if plans change.
- To improve my talks, and, only if you said I may, to quote your feedback publicly as a testimonial. You can withdraw that permission at any time through the contact form and I'll take the quote down.
- To keep the forms free of spam and abuse.
Text messages (SMS) and how you opt in
How you opt in. I only text people who have given me their mobile number and agreed to receive text messages: by ticking the consent box when you book a call through the calendar on this site, or by asking me in writing to text you. Opting in is never a condition of booking a call, buying the book, or working with me.
What you'll receive. Messages about the conversation you started: confirmations and reminders for calls you book, replies to your questions, and, only if you have separately asked for them, occasional updates about speaking, coaching, and the book. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply; check with your carrier.
How to opt out or get help. Reply STOP to any message to opt out; you'll get one confirmation text and nothing more. Reply HELP to any message for help, or use the contact form. You must be 18 or older to opt in to text messages.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties. The messaging provider that delivers texts on my behalf handles your number only to deliver them. The full messaging terms are in the Terms & Conditions.
Who processes it
The site runs on Cloudflare Pages, and the Turnstile bot check is a Cloudflare service. Newsletter sign-ups, contact messages, and feedback submissions are stored as contact records in my CRM and messaging platform, which runs at connect.austinhouser.com; if that platform is briefly unreachable, a submission is held in a Cloudflare database instead so it isn't lost. Contact and feedback messages are also delivered to me by Mailgun. Call bookings, and the confirmation emails and text messages that go with them, are handled by the same platform at connect.austinhouser.com. The fonts on this site are served from this site, not from a third party. Each of these companies acts as a processor on my behalf and under its own privacy terms. I don't sell, rent, or trade your information, and I don't share it with anyone else unless the law requires it.
How long I keep it
Newsletter addresses stay on the list until you unsubscribe or ask me to remove them. Contact and feedback emails stay in my inbox for as long as I need them to follow up, and your contact record, messages, and feedback submissions stay in the CRM until you ask me to remove them. Booking details stay there too, for as long as I need them to run and follow up on the call. IP addresses used for rate limiting are discarded automatically within minutes.
Data security
The site is served only over HTTPS, so anything you type into a form is encrypted in transit. Your information is stored with the providers named above, each of which protects it with encryption at rest and access controls, and access on my side is limited to me and the people who help me run the business. I don't collect payment card details on this site. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but if I ever learn of a breach affecting your information, I'll tell you as the law requires.
Cookies and tracking
The site itself sets no cookies and uses no analytics, advertising, or tracking pixels. Cloudflare Turnstile may set a cookie or use browser storage while it verifies a form submission; it is used only for that check. The embedded booking calendar is served by my CRM platform and may set its own cookies to run the booking flow.
Your rights and choices
You can ask me at any time to see, update, correct, or delete the information I hold about you, to unsubscribe from the newsletter (every issue also has an unsubscribe link), to stop text messages (reply STOP), or to withdraw permission to quote you. Send the request through the contact form and I'll take care of it, usually within a few days. Depending on where you live you may have additional rights under local privacy law; the same contact form is the way to exercise them.
Children
This site is aimed at working adults. I don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you think a child has submitted a form, let me know through the contact form and I'll delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date. Material changes to how the newsletter list is used will be announced in the newsletter first.
